JANUARY 2008
This month's "Cooking On A Budget For One" show is "Hamburger Soup". A very hearty soup with vegetables and noodles. Seven main ingredients and forty five minutes later you will be eating like a king.
RESIDENTS AT BUILDINGS will experience a "Mexican Fiesta". Allied will be featuring "Tacos, Nachos and More" to the sound of Mariachi Bands (recorded) and a fun dessert.
MOVIE NIGHT. "Only the Lonely" starring John Candy and Maureen O'Hara.

FEBRUARY 2008
This month, our cooking show is all about "wraps". These are quite versatile for all three meals, and we will be creating a breakfast, lunch, and dinner wrap. We are using soft tortilla shells purchased at Aldi's, with fresh vegetables, eggs and chicken. These tasty dishes only takes 5 to 10 minutes, and as little as 3 main ingredients.
RESIDENTS AT BUILDINGS. "Meatball and Chips" party, and Allied Home Health Care will donate 30 books to help kick off our "Book Club" for the residents, and there will be prizes and games.
MOVIE NIGHT. "The In-laws" starring Alan Arkin and Peter Falk.

MARCH 2008
Our cooking show this month will be Spanish Rice. This is a good stand by meal that warms the soul and is nutritious. Only four main ingredients with spices. Samples are always served so you be the judge as always is this recipe will be a winter favorite.
Charlotte Schneider will be speaking at the STRIKE FORCE meeting at Jesse Brown V.A. Medical Center, March 11.
RESIDENTS AT BUILDINGS will be invited to a VALENTINE'S DAY PARTY. Shannon Wright will be performing a mini concert, and we promise a relaxing afternoon of food and fun.
MOVIE NIGHT. "Casa Blanca" starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

APRIL 2008
Our cooking show will feature "Chicken Georgia". This is a recipe we have tweaked from the Paula Deen Show, and transformed it for our "Cooking On A Budget For One". This recipe features 5 main ingredients, and is a real winner! As always we will discuss nutrition and how to cut your food budget.
RESIDENTS AT BUILDINGS will be invited to a "Share Your Past Party". Bring your pictures and memories you're your childhood, school days, weddings, births and everything in between. We are what we have experienced in life and every life is different and interesting. We will be serving Spaghetti and Meatballs with garlic toast, and as always our delicious down south Sweet Peach Tea, with no sugar. Stick around for dessert and a great time.
MOVIE NIGHT. "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" starring Jack Nicholson.

MAY 2008
Our "Cooking On A Budget For One" will feature Tomato/Garlic Angel Hair Pasta. Four main ingredients and twenty minutes create a great Italian Feast. It almost takes longer to say it than to make it. This show is a great way to make new friends and get some advice on nutrition. We will have a guest speaker to speak on the effects of diabetes and how to counteract them. New meters will be given out free of charge.
RESIDENTS IN BUILDING are invited to a brunch of pancakes with fresh fruit toppings and sausage. We are starting this event at 11AM. Get 'em hot off the griddle. Let's start the day off with a few jokes and a lot of smiles. Allied Home Health Care events treasures our times we spend with our friends at these events. God bless you all.

JUNE 2008
Cooking On A Budget For One. Meatloaf for one and good! Traditional meatloaf with four main ingredients and 20 minutes. Good enough to serve company.
RESIDENTS IN BUILDINGS invitations to an old fashioned "ice cream social". We will be serving liquored cakes with either regular or sugar free ice cream. The song club will be performing a medley of hits to help us welcome summer.
MOVIE NIGHT. "Fried Green Tomatoes" starring Kathy Bates and Mary Stuart Masterson.

JULY 2008
Cooking On A Budget For One. Lasagna, YES FOR ONE!!! Don't miss all of your favorites because of the expenses and excess leftovers. Cooking On A Budget For One, will help you to create small, nutritious meals that don't take much time or money.
RESIDENTS IN BUILDINGS, join us on Saturday, July 4th for the community picnic. Bring a covered dish, or if you aren't a cook, bring chips, or dips, or cookies. Whatever you bring, we will all have a great time. We will start around noon and will have some book reviews and maybe a few songs.
MOVIE NIGHT. "Ishtar" starring Dustin Hoffman.

AUGUST 2008
Cooking On A Budget For One. Salads are not what they used to be. We mix blueberries, raspberries, fresh greens, nuts and more. Diverse salad dressings and crazy mixed up salads are featured. As usual, you, the taster, determine if this works for you. We are always watching your budget, your nutritional values, and the amount of ingredients needed to make the recipes work.
RESIDENTS IN BUILDINGS. Our famous "Chocolate and Fresh Fruit Party". Enjoy nature's bounty dressed up with the finest European Dark Belgium Chocolate. From potato chips and cookies to strawberries and bananas, smother it all in warm chocolate. Wear something washable and have a ball.
MOVIE NIGHT. "The Secret Garden" starring Margaret O'Brien.

SEPTEMBER 2008
Cooking On A Budget For One. Chicken soup with no chicken! Allied Home Health Care will show you restaurant secrets on how to whip a soup from a cup to a pot. Great for the chilly nights with a piece of crusty  bread. We will explore the world of quick and healthy soup.
RESIDENTS IN BUILDINGS, dig through those kitchen and dresser drawers and bring them to the community room because we are having a GARAGE SALE. Allied Home Health Care will be your free concession stand, and you will be in business. Bring whatever you wish to sell, mark it whatever you want, and take home your new found wealth. Invite your friends and family, but the public will not be invited.
MOVIE NIGHT. "12 Monkeys" starring Bruce Willis.
